Mercedes Anna\u00eds Est\u00e9vez Cruz (elle\/ella) es une narradore multimedia dominicane, historiadore oral, defensore de la tierra y practicante espiritual de ascendencia afroind\u00edgena y jud\u00eda sefard\u00ed. Naci\u00f3 en la ciudad de Nueva York y creci\u00f3 entre Washington Heights y la Rep\u00fablica Dominicana. En 2012 regres\u00f3 a la isla, y desde entonces, ha estado estudiando y recopilando historias de la tierra y de sus Mayores.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Su trabajo\u2014que abarca la ficci\u00f3n, la no ficci\u00f3n y la organizaci\u00f3n comunitaria\u2014se centra en la rebeli\u00f3n y la resiliencia afroind\u00edgena en la isla de Ayiti (Rep\u00fablica Dominicana y Hait\u00ed). Explora c\u00f3mo el pasado, el presente y el futuro existen a la vez, y c\u00f3mo la tierra, las historias y las pr\u00e1cticas culturales se convierten en espacios de memoria colectiva. A trav\u00e9s de la historia oral, las pr\u00e1cticas ancestrales y la investigaci\u00f3n en archivos, rescata historias frecuentemente borradas por la migraci\u00f3n, la violencia colonial y el desplazamiento.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
